The UVic-UCC, third best young university in Catalonia and 131st in the world
The Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya (UVic-UCC) is ranked 131st in the world according to the Times Higher Young Education University Ranking, which analyses 790 universities that have been in existence for a maximum of 50 years. This means that it also occupies third place in Catalonia, behind the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Universitat Ramon Llull, and the same position at the national level, since of the 32 Spanish universities that have participated in the sample, the first seven are Catalan.
This is, once again, an important milestone for UVic-UCC, which would not have been possible without the commitment, dedication, effort and perseverance of all the people and professionals who are part of this institution.
The UVic-UCC already became part, for the first time, of The World University Ranking (WUR) of Times Higher Education, coinciding with the start of this academic year 2021-2022. On that occasion he burst into the position 401-500 of a total of 1,662 public and private institutions in 99 different countries. In addition, the UVic-UCC ranks sixth in the whole of Spain, with 52 universities represented, and fourth in Catalonia.
The Times Higher Young Education University Ranking is based on the same 13 performance indicators taken into account by The World University Ranking of The Times Higher Education, but adjusts the weightings to give less importance to the elements that characterize the universities of long tradition.
THE WUR ranking is one of the most prestigious worldwide, and is based on the analysis of 13 indicators across the areas of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and internationalization. Among these areas, the UVic-UCC gets a particularly good position in the field of research and, more specifically, in the citations in indexed journals, which is placed in 146th position in the ranking.
This is very good news for UVic-UCC, which improves its international positioning and opens new doors for the future, and also for Elisava, as Faculty of Design and Engineering of the institution. A particularly relevant recognition considering the youth of the UVic-UCC, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary, and that aligns us, even more, in our firm and joint commitment to research, an essential factor in achieving excellence in teaching.
Last April, UVic-UCC was already included for the first time in the Impact Ranking 2021, also promoted by Times Higher Education, which evaluates universities in terms of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
