The students of the Master in Furniture Design create a modular, innovative and sustainable sofa for Pummba
The students of the Master in Furniture Design have collaborated with the company Pummba to design a modular sofa that captures the essence of the brand. To this end, the Pummba team presented to the participants the brand’s philosophy, under the slogan “because life changes”, highlighting the importance of creating furniture that is not only functional and aesthetically attractive, but also flexible. Pummba’s products aim to be versatile and responsive to customer needs, adapting to their changing lives and facilitating the process of buying a quality sofa.
With this approach, the challenge of designing a modular sofa that embodies these core values was proposed to the participants. The design challenge posed by Pummba included several specific requirements: the modular sofa had to have a structure made of wood panels, foam seats and backrests that could be vacuum-packed, it had to be removable, and it had to be kept within an affordable budget. These criteria ensured that the final product would not only be innovative and practical, but also sustainable and affordable.
Once the challenge was set, the students had four months to give shape to their ideas and develop their project deliverables, which consisted of a project report, descriptive renderings and a mock-up. The results of this collaboration not only reflect the talent and creativity of the students, but also their ability to tackle real design challenges.
