The Project ‘Hipcare’ by students of the Master in Product Design, recognised in the European Product Design Awards

The project ‘Hipcare’ by María Songel, María Paula Rodríguez, Lucía Solinís, Arsenio Andrea, Julia Robledo, and Eva Vera, students of Elisava’s Master in Product Design and Development, won the Top Design award in the Industrial / Healthcare Products & Supplies category of the European Product Design Awards 2023.

Hipcare‘ is the first 3D-printed personalized splint for the treatment of hip dysplasia in infants. Thanks to its innovative design regarding its structure and material, the project improves the babies’ quality of life, reducing the impact of cast treatment, and securing the correct immobilization during the post-surgery healing process while enabling proper hygienic conditions.

The European Product Design Awards honor the best in product design globally with the goal of advancing the appreciation of design worldwide. They also recognize the efforts of talented international product designers who aim to improve our daily lives with their practical, well-thought-out creations. The Industrial category of these awards, in which ‘Hipcare’ has been awarded, is focused on equipment and technological products, tools, elements, and design concepts that will improve any aspect of the industry–farming, construction, energy production, and many more, understanding the industry as the always-evolving driving force of our civilization.
