The FINESTRES-ELISAVA Chair participates in a conference at the San Diego Comic-Con in Málaga
The Research and Experimentation Chair in Comic FINESTRES-ELISAVA (CREC FINESTRES-ELISAVA) participated in the academic Symposium at the San Diego Comic-Con in Málaga, the first officially licensed expansion outside the United States of one of the world’s most influential pop culture events.
The event, celebrated from September 25 to 28, gathered fans, creators, and industry leaders in a grand celebration of film, fantasy, comics, gaming, and more.
The symposium, which brought together university comic chairs from across Spain, was entitled “Las mil caras del (super)héroe” (‘The thousand faces of the (super)hero’) and dealt with the figure of the (super)hero in comics in all its facets. Mery Cuesta, PhD, Director of the CREC Chair and the Master in Illustration and Visual Narrative at Elisava, gave her presentation “Arquitecturas de lo superheroico: Estetización del delincuente en el cómic y la prensa españoles de los años ochenta” (‘Architectures of the superheroic: Aestheticization of the criminal in Spanish comics and press of the 1980s’).
