Sílvia Escursell
Professor of the Degree in Design

Silvia Escursell is lecturer at Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering in Barcelona, where she is a PhD student in collaboration with ESEIAAT (The School of Industrial, Aeroespace and Audiovisual Engineering of Terrassa). She holds a Bachelor degree in Design from ESDi (Universitat Ramon Llull), a Master in Humanities: Contemporary Culture, Literature and Art at UOC, and Postgraduate degrees in Marketing at IQS FundEmi (Universtitat Ramon Llull) and in Digital Marketing at ESIC.
She worked as a graphic designer for several years in different design studios and advertising agencies in Barcelona and London. For six years she also worked as technical advisor for graphic designers and advertising agencies for the international fine paper company Fedrigoni Group. As a freelance she was the co-founder of The Curious.Link and lecturer at the EU Business School and at ESDi. She is currently collaborating with ipacklab.org, a platform focused in packaging, sustainability and innovation. She was a member of the Grand Prize Winner at the Creatathon with the project Drip Drop Kit for BASF Company, a sensor kit for saving water in agriculture. She also participated in a project about biodiversity in collaboration with the CCCB lead by the artist Natalie Jeremijenko and Josep Perelló entitled “Environmental Health Clinic XBarcelona”.
Her current research line involves design and application of lignocellulose circular materials in the packaging sector related to e-commerce. This can contribute to enhance sustainable materials so that they can satisfy the main functions of packaging in e-commerce (protection, cost-benefit balance, communication and branding).
