Two students of the Bachelor in Industrial Design Engineering awarded in the Roca One Day Design Challenge
Adam Peig and Mauro Barrera, students of the Bachelor in Industrial Design Engineering, have been awarded the second prize in the 12th edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge, a competition aimed at students and young professionals under 30 years old passionate about design and creativity that takes place in 12 countries around the world.
This year, the competition has taken place simultaneously in Barcelona and Madrid, and the jury in Barcelona was formed by Jade Serra (Slow Studio), Albert Salazar (AIA), Bern Donadeu (Nacar Design), and Mónica Azorero (Roca). In this year’s competition, the participants had to design a solution for the bathroom space that optimized the water consumption in all of its functions. With this idea as a starting point, Adam Peig and Mauro Barrera created CAPT, the project that gave them the second place.
CAPT obtained the jury’s recognition because of its innovative system that collects the air’s humidity to fill a flushing tank and optimizes the toilet’s water consumption. Furthermore, thanks to an integrated tactile screen and an app, the users can personalize some features and monitor the water savings. This promotes a more efficient and environmentally friendly water usage, fulfilling the objective of the competition.
