Dra. Laura Benítez
Director of the Master in Design for Emergent Futures and professor of the Degree in Design

Independent researcher and curator. Doctor of Philosophy, specialized in Aesthetics and Theory of Contemporary Art. Her research connects philosophy, art(s) and technoscience. Currently, her work is focused on the practices of bioart, biohacking, bioresistance processes, civil biodesobedience and non-human agents. She is a professor of Critical and Cultural Studies at La Massana (Center for Art and Design) and an external professor of Technology at Elisava. She has worked as a coordinator at the Institute of Humanities of Barcelona / CCCB.
She has been a visiting researcher at the Ars Electronica Center and at the MACBA Center for Studies and Documentation. She has also been invited to different international institutions such as Interface Culturas Kunstuniersität Linz, Sónar Festival (Bcn / Hong Kong), Royal Academy of Arts London or University of Puerto Rico. She is also the director of the European project Biofriction and, from 2023, of the Master’s Degree in Design for Emergent Futures by Elisava and IAAC.
