Xavier Diego, PhD
Professor of the Bachelor in Industrial Design Engineering
Scientist in the field of Computational Biology with a background in Theoretical Physics (UB, 2005) and a PhD in Structural Analysis (UPC, 2013). Expert in the analysis of large multimodal datasets and in the combination of mathematical modeling with computer simulations to understand complex phenomena, like embryonic development.
His research has been carried out at world-leading research institutions (Northwestern University in Chicago, the Center for Genomic Regulation in Barcelona and the European Molecular Biology) and published in top journals across in Biology, Physics and Robotics. Xavier has reviewed papers for numerous scientific journals and enjoys staying updated about the latest scientific developments.
Since 2024 he is a professor in the Industrial Design Engineering degree at Elisava, and his research has shifted to the application of biological principles to engineering and design problems.
