Civic Placemaking 3: disseny, espai públic i cohesió social. Primer de Maig, Granollers
Download
The research project Civic Placemaking: Design, Public Space and Social Cohesion (CP) seeks to promote social cohesion and intercultural integration in an organic and effective way through ephemeral architecture projects that have an impact on public space, foster a proactive citizenship in making decisions about their environment, and stimulate a sense of belonging and active citizenship.
CP3 closes the research started in CP1 (Marianao, Sant Boi de Llobregat) and continued by CP2 (Raval, Barcelona), using the Primer de Maig neighborhood of Granollers as its area of work. If CP1 explored the capabilities of ephemeral architecture to transform the perception of public space by the community that inhabits it, and CP2 focused on exploring the capabilities of ephemeral architecture to promote interaction between citizens by introducing new uses in public space, CP3 focuses on community action to explore temporary uses in urban environments, making this citizen science knowledge serve to propose ephemeral architecture formats that support the free appropriation of ‘public space by the neighbors.
