Future Woods. Earth & Mars is an exhibition curated by a team of researchers from Elisava Research with students from Elisava’s Master in Design through New Materials, together with Materfad, the Barcelona Materials Centre.
The heart of the project focuses on exploring the possibilities of wood and its profitability in the future, in order to move towards a more sustainable and green society. In line with the master’s degree, the exhibition considers the future of this material for architectural and interior environments and even ventures to imagine how it would exist in another planet, Mars.
And why wood? In a world where more and more people are talking about design and architecture with greater environmental consistency, this material is the only component that does not emit carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
Aimed at the general public, this project, which could already be seen at Architect@Work in Barcelona and Madrid, seeks to capture the viability of a more sustainable future through materials.
