Elisava Research is co-organizing the 25th International Conference on Engineering and Product Design Education, to be held on our campus on September 7-8, 2023.
The conference brings together representatives from the fields of education and industry interested in sharing new perspectives on design and engineering education. It will become a forum for educators, professionals and students from the fields of product development, engineering, industrial and human-centered design, and industry to address educational issues of the present and future. The conference also encourages professionals from other disciplines to contribute and participate.
This year’s theme is Responsible Innovation for Global Coexistence: design and engineering come together to focus their professional practice on innovation. Innovation can come from a technocentric drive and push technology to new limits without considering why or how it affects us as a society and as a global community.
The environmental crisis and the lack of improvement in areas such as pollution, biodiversity loss and climate change demand that our efforts focus on finding new ways to coexist in the spaces we share with others, be they other cultures, other species or the diverse ecosystems that sustain us.
Thus, we would like to dedicate the E&PDE 2023 conference to consider and expand the professional and pedagogical role of designers and engineers so that they can engage in responsible innovation for global coexistence that allows us to create inclusive, just and pluralistic futures.
The conference has been organized in collaboration with the DESIG (Design Education Special Interest Group) of The Design Society and the IED (Institution of Engineering Designers).
