You vs The Machine
“You vs The Machine” is a project that reflects on the oppression exercised through technology in today’s fully digitalized social context. Too often, technology has taken on a political role, becoming a weapon that amplifies the power and authority of some, while reproducing the same inequalities and injustices that punish underprivileged communities outside the online world.
The project deconstructs technological oppression into three behaviors: surveillance, discrimination and manipulation. In response to this approach, a Kit has been designed consisting of three exercises, each referring to a type of oppression, which aims to raise awareness and reflection in the user through their own experimentation. In this way, the Kit becomes a catalyst for critical thinking that uses interaction as the main tool to communicate a growing concern about the lack of freedom, privacy and equality in a world increasingly influenced by technology.
