Thor(No)Tech
Humidity is often an invisible disruptor in indoor environments. It contributs to condensation, mold, and material degradation. Conventional dehumidification systems are energy-intensive, noisy, and produce e-waste. ‘Thor(No)Tech’ proposes a biomimetic alternative: a passive humidity control system inspired by nature’s engineering.
At the heart of the concept lies the Thorny Devil lizard, a desert species capable of absorbing and transporting water through a network of capillary micro-channels in its skin. Translating this principle into design, ‘Thor(No)Tech’ combines a rigid, high-precision PHA-printed shell with an interchangeable, bio-based insert designed to absorb and release moisture cyclically, without electricity or noise.
Primarily intended for high-humidity indoor environments, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces, the system may also be adapted to commercial or public interiors, offering a silent and sustainable alternative to conventional solutions.
