Synthetic Memories

This master thesis explores the application of generative artificial intelligence (GEN-AI) for synthetic memory generation for therapeutic engagement with senior citizens. The research addresses the challenges and potential of utilizing text-to-image GEN-AI algorithms to generate visual artifacts to recreate memories and facilitate emotional connection among individuals in assisted living facilities.
The study works in the intersection of visual culture, digital technologies and wellbeing, and encompasses a comprehensive methodology that combines linguistic prompts, AI technologies such as SoundFrames, and the expertise of social and psychological practitioners to generate visual representations of personal narratives.
