ReConecta
Memory is essential to our identity and emotional bonds.
When it deteriorates, as in Alzheimer’s disease, relationships and meaning can fade. ‘ReConecta’ is a sensory experience designed for people living with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones. It explores how interactive design can evoke memories and foster emotional connection.
The project centers on the sense of smell, due to its strong link to autobiographical memory. A touchscreen displays photographic images of meaningful memories, four diffusers release evocative scents, and a card game prompts gentle questions to encourage conversation.
These elements invite shared memories and help strengthen personal bonds.
