‘Pausas compartidas’ (Shared pauses) is a strategy of decentralisation of the museum space that arises from the personal exploration of the shelter. The aim is to bring the museum closer to environments that do not feel represented by it, creating spaces for contemplation and dialogue that transform their relationship towards a closer and more participatory collaboration. The proposal is materialised in a system of five adaptable and expandable temporary installations that form a route of activation and belonging.

The project focuses on the MACBA and the Raval as a paradigmatic case study to address the problem of disconnection. Thus, the pause is proposed as a resource to turn places into meaningful spaces, stimulating contemplation and reappropriation of the surroundings through the participation of the community. The project becomes a symbiotic point between the institution and the neighbours, opening its doors to new cultural dynamics and establishing a framework for two-way exchange projects between the neighbourhood and the museum.
