The 'Luca' project refers to the 'Last Universal Common Ancestor' from which all kingdoms and species emerged over time. The work emphasizes the need for an immediate material rethinking, after experiencing the infeasibility of creation with human prokaryotic microorganisms within a critical speculative scenario of self-sufficiency from the body.
Under this overturn of the concept of human control over nature, the solution is to cooperate between living organisms, changing the concept of building for that of making and growing. The project is an experimental proposal for bacterial cellulose in symbiosis with the Kombucha fungus, showing different applications, treatments and finishes of the material.
