El Nido
The housing cooperative ‘El Nido’ arises from the need to guarantee affordable housing for young people and offer them a first home in which to emancipate themselves.
The former Fàbrica Albert i Germans becomes a cohousing open to the neighbourhood in which to emphasise relations between neighbours and improve the social fabric of the Sant Josep neighbourhood. For this reason, ‘El Nido’ is committed to the opening of a ‘coffee & bakery’, a space for dissemination, self-managed by the members of the cohousing.
In addition, the project opens the doors of the courtyard behind the factory, providing the neighbourhood with a green area, a children’s playground and a bicycle parking, spaces that the inhabitants of l’Hospitalet de Llobregat long for.
