El Funeral de la Llet

El Funeral de la llet is a gastronomic event that brings together three chefs, two dairy farmers and a consumer, to celebrate together a farewell meal, commemorating the end of a cycle: the closure of a small dairy farm in Ripollès, called Mas la Folcrà. In 2000, Catalonia had 1,600 dairy farms; today, there are fewer than 400 left.
The macro-industry is affecting small family farms, such as that of Xavier and Gemma from Mas la Folcrà, who had to close it down just because they could no longer make a living from it. This project aims to show the effects of this extensive food industry, which ends up destroying the small and medium-sized producers’ network, and endangers our food sovereignty.
