Digesting Data
Research-based reflection on the role of design in personal intelligence and degrowth. Inspired by our communal nature to gather, eat, and talk, this project presents speculative recipes for creating human connection around esoteric topics.
Through food, we explore the ethics, trends, and feelings related to machine learning. Over the course of six dishes, participants are prompted to respond to each of the principles in our manifesto. By initiating these conversations, we begin to build our data consciousness and work towards an inclusive digital landscape. Each dinner is audio recorded, and with the support of digital tools, this data becomes an input to redraft the continuously written manifesto. Digesting Data proposes a new methodology for democratizing technology. This project defines data as a material capable of redefining the way we live. Food becomes a communication tool, using the primitive act of dining to facilitate dialogue and deepen understanding.
