Cave

‘Cave’ is a modular shelf inspired by the myth of Plato’s cave. This myth explains how everything we perceive is not as it is, but it is a simple illusion created by our senses. From this concept, we begin to investigate how a material can help to represent this idea. Finally we decided that the perfect material for this project is cellular polycarbonate. This material allows light to pass through, in such a way that it does not interfere with the space, giving a feeling of continuity and fluidity to the room where it is placed. However, the objects seen through it suffer a distortion, generating a filter that helps to materialize this concept of reality versus perception.
