Professor Francesc Ribot, Award for the Best Master’s Final Project of UB
Francesc Ribot, PhD, professor at Elisava, has been awarded the first prize for the Best Master’s Final Project by the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media (FIMA) of the University of Barcelona. His project, entitled «Proposta de model de gestió de la identitat visual de marca a través del fons patrimonial de l’empresa» (‘Proposal of a management model of the brand’s visual identity through the company’s patrimonial fund’), proposes a methodology to point out the value of the documentary archive of an institution as a strategic basis to build and consolidate its brand identity.
The award ceremony was celebrated on Thursday, April 3, 2025, promoted by the consolidated research group Culture, Libraries, and Digital Content (CBCD) and with the support of the Research Center for Information, Communication, and Culture (CRICC). The award, endowed with 900 euros, was given in an event that also recognized two secondary awards and included the lecture «Visibilidad de las colecciones digitales patrimoniales» (‘Visibility of the patrimonial digital collections’) by Xavier Agenjo, of the Larramendi Foundation. The jury has chosen among 17 high-level projects, all of them with a minimum mark of 9 out of 10.
In parallel to studying the master, Elisava has entrusted to Francesc Ribot the leadership of the development of Elisava’s new historic archive, an ambitious project that integrates the faculty’s and the CIC Cultural Institution’s funds. This idea has the aim of turning the archive into a tool for interpreting and disseminating the history of the institution, encouraging research on design studies in Catalonia and Spain, and reinforcing Elisava’s activity record as an educational model in the field of design and engineering.
This double contribution—academical and institutional—highlights the increasing value of the archives as active agents in the construction of knowledge and identity, and reaffirms the compromise of Elisava with memory, innovation and critical thinking in the field of design.
