Workshop 1: ‘Explore the future and technological creativity with LilyPad Arduino textile’

You will embark in a learning trip where clothes will be turned into an interactive and futurist platform.

Have you ever asked yourself how can technology take part in fashion? In this workshop you will discover that it is possible! Through the magic of LilyPad Arduino, you will learn to combine electronics and confection to create smart clothes and interactive accessories that can respond to your environment and emotions.

What you will experiment:

  • Introduction to Wearable Technology: You will learn about history and the potential of wearable technology in our daily life.
  • Arduino Basic Concepts: You will delve into the world of programming and electronics using the LilyPad Arduino platform.
  • Creative Design and Confection: You will discover how to sew circuits on your clothes and accessories to enliven your ideas.
  • Practical Projects: You will create your own designs, from a LED lights bracelet to an interactive t-shirt that reacts to applauses and movement.
  • Innovation: You will learn to think in a creative way and design projects that solve real problems or that are just fun.
  • Project exhibition: You will have the opportunity of showing your creations and sharing your ideas with colleagues.

This workshop is an opportunity to submerge into the exciting world of technology and fashion in a unique way. You do not need previous experience in programming nor confection. You only need your curiosity and enthusiasm. At the end of the workshop, you will not only have acquired technical skills, but also discovered new forms of expression and creativity. Join us and prepare to transform your clothes into a technological masterpiece that will impress everyone!

Class group of a maximum of 23-25 people. In case the capacity is exceeded, please contact grau@elisava.net.

Workshop 2: ‘Experimentation with graphic techniques and processes’

We will discover graphic techniques such as cyanotype, risograph, foil metalized finishings, stencil and image abstraction techniques.

In this workshop, students will be able to recognise different graphic techniques that offers Elisava’s graphic workshop. Through analogical and digital experimentations, participants will be able to go around the space’s tools and machinery.

The activity’s main objective is to make the students familiar with graphic processes such as cyanotype, risograph, foil metalized finishings, stencil and image abstraction techniques. The final result will we captured in big format posters and small previous prototype compositions that students will be able to take home once the workshop is finished.

Class group of a maximum of 20 students. In case the capacity is exceeded, please contact grau@elisava.net.

Workshop 3: ‘Experiment with smart materials’

We will go into the world of smart materials; thermochromics, electrochromic, with shape memory and magnetically active. Every material is good by itself, but not all of them have the same implication with the environment that we are building. This makes us think and reflect.

We are living an energetic crisis and we know that smart materials transform energy. This makes us act, it is an opportunity. If we take a look around, everything we see and even what we do not see is matter and material. This makes us curious.

If materials have been, are and will continue being an innovation driver, we should know them. If when we are little, they teach us about letters, numbers and musical notes, why do not they teach us about the elements that form our world? This will open up horizons.

In this workshop we will share experiences with thermochromics, electrochromic, with shape memory and magnetically active smart materials, we will touch them, feel them and enjoy their colour, temperature and shape changes.

Class group of a maximum of 20 people. In case the capacity is exceeded, please contact grau@elisava.net.
