(News updated on November 15, 2023)
The Odapt project, developed by three students from the Master in Industrial Design Engineering, Ivana Llobet, Patricia López and Jessica Nissen, tutored by Jessica Fernández and Xavier Tutó, has just won the Formnext Start-up Challenge, which recognizes emerging companies in the world of additive manufacturing for their innovative business ideas and technical developments.
Furthermore, a few months ago they won the Distributed Design Awards in the responsible design category. In addition, it was already doubly honoured in the Forward AM Innovation Award. Firstly, it had been selected as a finalist for this international award, and secondly, it had won the People’s Choice Award. Both distinctions translate into a prize of €25,000 for the project’s authors.
Odapt consists of a reusable and customized disc for two-piece ostomy bags, the first ever 3D-printed disc, which fits any type of stoma. The project responds to a need to improve current ostomy bags, which cause leaks in 90% of ostomates.
