Nou de la Rambla, 26: Master in Ephemeral Architecture Students explore the limits of exhibition space

Students from Elisava’s Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces present ‘Nou de la Rambla, 26’, an exhibition project that investigates new ways of understanding exhibitions as spaces for thought, experimentation and knowledge production. The project can be explored through a video documenting both the process and the outcomes of the initiative.

The proposal adopts a transdisciplinary approach to exhibition practice with the aim of testing the limits of exhibition language, blurring the boundaries between theory and practice. Situated at the intersection of disciplines such as philosophy, art history, politics, aesthetics, architecture and literature, the exhibition is conceived as a space of exception where thought is expressed through the body, movement and experience.

The project takes as its object of study the building located at 26 Nou de la Rambla Street, the future home of Elisava. Currently empty and awaiting new uses, the building becomes a territory for exploration and reflection on space, occupation and the construction of meaning. In this transitional moment, when the building’s usual function is temporarily suspended, an opportunity emerges to generate new interpretations and imaginaries around the built environment.

Developed during the 2025–2026 edition of the Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces, the project exemplifies the programme’s pedagogical approach, based on research through design, spatial experimentation and the critical exploration of the relationships between architecture, culture and society.

The project was developed by Sara Bokr, Rebecca Di Iorio-Dedomeneghi, Camilla Di Martino, Yara Farah, María Isabel Galarza, Priyanka Grottin, Irem Gündoğdu, Nour Klaime, Thelma Riche, Ned Alfred Smith and Robin Tammer.

The programme’s faculty is composed of Jaume Coscollar, Toni Montes and Roger Paez, professionals with extensive experience in the fields of architecture, design and spatial research.

The Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces explores the potential of temporary spaces as tools for generating experiences, activating contexts and responding to the contemporary challenges of spatial practice.
