In the framework of collaboration with the Elisava Racing Team, the Cero Design studio has proposed to a group of 5 students of the team the challenge of investigating new ways to reduce the weight of an electric motorcycle. Students have used virtual simulation tools to propose redesigns of various parts of the bike taking advantage of new manufacturing technologies.
Based on the analysis of how weight reduction affects energy efficiency, performance and the dynamics of electric motorcycles, students have proposed and verified the feasibility of redesigning parts. The proposals have focused on topological optimization, the incorporation of "lattice" structures for additive manufacturing or the use of new production processes. The resulting innovative proposals have responded perfectly to the challenge proposed by Cero Design.
