The students of the subject 'Context and User' (taken during the second year of the Degree in Design) have carried out a project in collaboration with Biblioteques de Barcelona, in an attempt to approach social research through design.
The project arose from the need to bring back young people to the city's libraries. The students began their learning process with the following question: What level of knowledge do young people have about the services currently offered in libraries? From there, they had to work on devising new content and attractive forms for people under 25.
The subject, taught by Juan Arrausi, Paolo Susterisc, Toni Llàcer, Blanca Callan and Danae Esparza, seeks, with projects like this one, to pose real challenges with a socio-cultural impact in Barcelona.
Here are some of the outstanding final projects, all centred on different public libraries in the city.
