MEATS presents in Monumental Club the installation 'SPACE', made with 10,000 plastic cups

'SPACE' is a project created by ELISAVA's students of the MEATS (Master’s Degree in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces). It is located in Monumental Club, a festival that combines music, gastronomy and a fashion market, and is hosted once a month in the old bullring Monumental, in Barcelona. 'SPACE' comes up from a brand strategy for Cervezas Alhambra, the festival's main sponsor.

"The brand's philosophy suggests to stop and create in a relaxed way in order to be aware of what surrounds us", explains Toni Montes, co-director of MEATS. "Having this idea in mind we have created a space for relaxing and enjoying the views. The well is made of a lattice built with plastic cups of different colours, which are inspired in the brand's logo and changes its lights and shadows throughout the day and night". On the floor, carpets and cushions occupy the space so kids can play, adults can talk, and others take a nap after having dinner.

The installation has a steel cube's structure, a metal mesh and 10000 plastic cups of different colours. The assemblage was done in 12 hours and its dismantling in 5. This project is 100% removable and all of its elements are recoverable, reusable, and recyclable.
