On October 6th, prizes were awarded at the 1st Mostra d'Arquitectura Catalana Garraf - Alt Penedès, organised by the Barcelona office of the Architects' Association of Catalonia (COAC) at the Can Papiol museum in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
One of the awards was given to Can Guineu, an ephemeral installation by a group of students from the Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces (MEATS), which is the result of a collaboration agreement between Elisava and the Sant Sadurní town council. The projected space has hosted activities and cultural and leisure initiatives organised by local entities or the town council.
Roger Paez, co-director of the project together with Jordi Queralt and Toni Montes, received the award from Sandra Bestraten, president of the Barcelona office of the COAC; Francesc Camps, curator of the COAC's Mostra d'Arquitectura, and Montserrat Montalbo, architect of the Barcelona Provincial Council's Servei d'Equipaments i Espai Públics ('Equipment and Public Space Service').
Eighty-six works have been submitted to the exhibition, which aims to honour the work of architects and disseminate the most relevant architecture in the region, and will be on display until November 14th at the Armand Cardona Torrandell library, in Vilanova i la Geltrú. In addition, from 2023 the exhibition will be open to the public libraries of Garraf and Alt Penedès: Sitges, Vilafranca del Penedès, Cubelles, Sant Martí Sarroca, Sant Pere de Riudebitlles, Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Gelida, Sant Martí Sarroca, Sant Pere de Ribes, Santa Margarida i els Monjos and Sant Quintí de Mediona.
