The students of the Degree in Industrial Design Engineering and the Degree in Design who are doing their Final Degree Project in collaboration with Girbau Lab, the collaborative innovation platform of Girbau, a company that manufactures machinery for commercial, industrial and self-service laundries, visited the Calandra Laundry.
The visit was part of the FIX project that the students are developing to treat the microplastics that are released during the washing of washing machines in laundries such as Calandra. The aim of the initiative is to reduce the impact of this waste on the environment and to make young people think in terms of circular economy and sustainability with a clear application in design.
The visit to this industrial laundry located in Vic helped the students to understand how the washing, drying and ironing process works. It has state-of-the-art Girbau commercial and industrial machines. After the guided tour, the students were able to ask different questions to resolve any doubts they may have regarding the project they are carrying out.
The FIX-Girbau project is part of a second collaboration agreement between the two entities, which is based on the desire to encourage the professional development of young students through real projects to bring them closer to the labour market.
