This past week, students of the Degree in Design of Elisava have collaborated with the Eix Comercial de Sants-Les Corts to carry out a travelling action through the streets of these neighborhoods and collect opinions of the neighbors about the local commerce.
"What do you value about proximity trade?" has been the main question of this first experience that will serve as a pilot test for the project Dissenyem Comerç, promoted by the City Council of Barcelona, Barcelona Activa and Disseny Hub Barcelona. Its objective: to establish collaborations between design schools and the commercial network to promote trade in the city.
Part of the research carried out by this first team has been made visible in an itinerant action carried out on Tuesday, September 29th, where the team of students from Elisava has talked with the neighbors about the commerce of the neighborhood. The resulting reflections have been written on a large shift ticket.
Brainstorming with the shopkeepers
These reflections will be used to inspire a brainstorming session to be held in conjunction with the Sants-Les Corts merchants. Afterwards, the tickets will be returned to the stores as a form of thanks and to share and make visible the values of proximity trade.
The Dissenyem Comerç programme will bring together students of design, fashion, visual arts, architecture and audiovisuals from different schools of design and creative industries in Barcelona, who will work together with the city's commercial network to develop proposals for revitalizing and promoting neighborhood commerce.
