ELISAVA students design a Christmas lighting for La Pedrera

For a few days, the façade of La Pedrera, the emblematic modernist building of the Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona designed by Antoni Gaudí, looks more than ever.

Words like "Buy", "Equality", "Love" and "Peace" shine on the balconies and windows of the building with an ornamental purpose, as befits These Christmas dates, but also to make citizens aware of the consumerism traditionally associated with these days.

The lighting design is the work of the students of the MEATS (Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces of ELISAVA), who have designed this particular Christmas lighting with the intention of "making visible a debate that exists in society", explains project coordinator Roger Paez, architect and co-director of the MEATS.

According to the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, as publishes La Vanguardia, the initiative seeks to "encourage critical thinking in society" in "an era full of contradictions" such as Christmas.
