Students of the Master in Ephemeral Arquitecture design Soundit’s new stage
The students of the Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces (MEATS) have collaborated with the electronic music festival Soundit in the creation of a new proposal for its stage. This festival, a benchmark in the international underground scene, celebrates twelve events throughout the year between the Monumental and the Forum of Barcelona. Soundit wanted to commemorate its tenth anniversary with a new, innovative and unique staging.
The MEATS students’ project arose from Soundit’s need for a stage that worked well both day and night and that was quick to assemble and disassemble. From this premise, they worked together on two proposals. One of these was chosen for the premiere of the season in the Plaza Monumental in Barcelona.
This proposal consists of a floating canopy that flies over part of the audience and gives shade to the stage. Furthermore, this canopy, together with the one on the back and lateral ones, can be used as a screen for projecting light and video when it gets dark. This solution allows the stage to be customized for each edition thanks to the design of lighting and visuals, as well as being easy to assemble, disassemble, and store.
