Elisava students design the set of a micro-opera for the Gran Teatre del Liceu

19 Jan 2022

Elisava students, led by Sebastià Brosa, director of the Master in Set Design for Theatre, Film and TV, participate in the project (OH!)PERA with the aim of creating the set of one of the four small-format operas. As part of the initiative, promoted by the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Disseny Hub Barcelona, together with other educational centers in the field of creative industries such as BAU, EINA, LCI and Escola Massana, teams of undergraduate and master’s degree students from different design disciplines will be created to work on aspects such as stage design, costume, lighting and audiovisual design.

Specifically, the micro opera that Elisava students will be working on is Shadow. Eurydice Says, directed by Alicia Serrat, with music by Núria Giménez-Comas and based on the libretto by Elfriede Jelinek, translated by Gitta Honegge.

The objective of the (OH!)PERA project is to complement the training of young people from creative disciplines in the city of Barcelona and facilitate their learning in a real environment, having an experience with the operatic genre and professionals in this world. The mission of this initiative includes the accompaniment and support to artistic creation, making available spaces and resources that serve as a field of experimentation based on the rigor, demand and quality of the projects.

These four small-format operas will be performed in different spaces of the Liceu (Sala Miralls, Teatrí del Conservatori and Foyer), on July 9 and 10, 2022, a great showcase to showcase the emerging talent of the city and project it internationally.
