Elisava collaborates with Flax & Kale on a sustainable packaging design project
The students of Elisava’s Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Design Engineering will work with the health food company Flax & Kale in the creation of an innovative and environmentally friendly packaging for the launch of a new product of the company.
This collaboration between the pioneering flexitarian food company in Spain and university talent began on 29 March at Elisava, with a masterclass by Flax & Kale’s Director of Quality and Sustainability, Mar Barri.
The project, which will last the whole academic year, will be developed within the framework of two case studies. The first, within the framework of the subject ‘Design and Product II’ of second year and under the direction of Pere Llorach, will focus on studying the life cycle and improving the sustainability of Flax & Kale packaging. The second, framed in the subject ‘Packaging Projects’ of the third course and led by Cristina Taverner, will consist of the creation of a packaging proposal for domestic use and for the Horeca channel for a new product, liquid mozzarella, taking into account its cycle of use and sustainability.
Cristina Taverner says that they incorporate “sustainability and circular economy as basic principles of the school, so this collaboration will provide students with a real challenge launched by a key company in this sector, developing an innovative project in which creativity, disruptive packaging design and sustainability are the main protagonists”.
