Carlos Álvarez, student of the Bachelor in Design and Innovation class 2022-23, has won the gaudeamusPROJECTA award for his Final Degree Project Ultra Materiam. La interpretación gráfica de la identidad: más allá de la materia.

This project, tutored by Francesc Ribot and Jessica Fernàndez, is based on the philosophical legacy of the Voyager mission, which sent a disk encoding the identity of humanity in the confines of outer space. From this premise, the proposal reflects how a person’s identity can be compressed, and it explores new ways of representing complex and abstract data related to human psychology. Furthermore, it also applies scientific theory to show new ways of visualizing parameters that measure psychological aspects.

For the seventh year in a row, these awards recognize and celebrate the academic excellence of the TFG in graphic design. The awards are open to all students who obtained a minimum grade of “B” in the TFG presented during the year 2023 in universities throughout the state. The gaudeamusPROJECTA awards not only recognize the authors of the projects but also their tutors and their schools.

The gaudeamusPROJECTA awards gala took place in early October at the Archive of the Crown of Aragon (Palau del Lloctinent) in Barcelona.
