The Tech Day conference cycle of the academic year 2018-2019, under the title «Barcelona Local Tech», has as its main purpose the reflection on the role of design as a strategic component of the urban ecosystem. In this environment, the relationships between different temporal agents such as tourism and territorial agents such as artisans and traditional local trades are essential elements to promote a productive city.
In this context, the product is considered not only as a material, but as a complex and circular system in which processes, materials and science are necessary components for generating innovative and sustainable alternatives.
The search and creation of new products-systems-services (PSS) is a valid strategy to guarantee the success of new models providing the territorial agents with a vision of change in order to give them visibility and to connect them with the city. These new models must show new codes of value and development of proposals that allow us to transform society and anticipate the present and future environmental needs of the planet.
The Tech Day is planned, year after year, within the framework of teaching activities of the Degree in Industrial Design Engineering. Thus, in relation with the subject of Design and Product, a knowledge event focused on a specific topic is organized. The objective is to offer a broad overview of all the possible factors for the inspiration of new design proposals to students and professionals working in this field.
This edition, which has the support of the "Impulsem" program of the Barcelona City Council, includes speakers such as Sara Alverellos, Jordi Closa, Máximo Menichinelli, Tomas Diez, Troy Nachtigall, among others.
