Lecture by Peter Bil'ak (CANCELLED)

Hour: 7:45pm
Place: ELISAVA (La Rambla, 30-32). Aleix Carrió Hall (1st floor)

The Graphic Design area of ELISAVA's masters has invited the Slovak designer Peter Bil'ak to come to the School and offer a conference next Wednesday 9 of May.

Through his talk "Design is not what you think", the editorial, graphic, typographic and scenographicdesigner will talk about the different steps of the design process; from the creative part to logistic matters or the funding of his projects.

Bil'ak will also explain how his most recent magazine, "Works that work", challenges the established publishing models.

In 1999, Bil'ak created the typographical foundry Typotheque, which nowadays can be regarded as an editorial more than a traditional design company. In there, he publishes books, magazines, and digital sources, as well as working with theatres from all around the world.

In 2000 he cofounded, together with Stuart Bailey, the art and design magazine Dot Dot Dot. In 2015, this time with Andrej Krátky, he cofounded, a font-rental platform. Moreover, he collaborates with the choreograph Lukas Timulak in the creation of modern dance performances; and they also started, a foundation aimed at artistic and interdisciplinary collaborations. Peter teaches Type&Media, a postgraduate course of the Royal Academy of Arts at The Hague; he is also a member of the AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale).
