Elisava participates in the EFOOD in Lisbon, the great appointment with the Food Design sector

Date: -
Place: Lisbon School of Architecture, Universidade de Lisboa

The new edition of EFOOD will once again bring together the Food Design sector in Lisbon to discover and analyse how design is activating a change in the agri-food sector.

The event, promoted by FORK, an international non-profit organisation that seeks to rethink food systems and the human diet, is a forum where academics and experts collaborate in a transdisciplinary way.

Elisava will participate with various contributions and activities. One of them is the presentation of the Food Design Lab, a physical and virtual space dedicated to the study and dissemination of Food Design as a discipline that contributes to facilitate socio-cultural, economic, environmental and even political systemic transformations.

For her part, student Berta Daina is participating with her project 'Agro', which is based on the promotion of traditional markets through the consumption of local and seasonal products. The work addresses the problem of the lack of commercialisation of these km0 products, as well as the waste of food. In addition, the students Noelia Esparis, Patricia López, Jéssica Nissen and Irene Segarra will present the project 'Be-Green', carried out as part of the Advanced Materials course of the Master's Degree in Industrial Design Engineering.

In addition, and coinciding with the celebration of the event, three articles related to Food Design will be published and presented during the scientific presentation conference: Food Design as a link between Design and Gastronomy in higher education, about how the environment was created and how projects such as 'Agro' and 'Gala' were tutored, as well as the creation between chefs and designers, by Mariana Eidler; Food Design: curbs, barrels and barricades. Creativity and Innovation in Food Design projects in higher education, by Ricardo Bonacho, Mariana Eidler and Sonia Massari; and Circular Food Waste Bio Materials Design for the food industry: exploring its potential, by Pere Llorach, Mariana Eidler and Jessica Fernandez.

Finally, Mariana Eidler will present Elisava's Food Design Lab and will participate in the opening and closing of EFOOD, where Ricardo Bonacho, director of the event, will hand over to her the direction of the next three editions. Elisava takes over from the Faculty of Lisbon, which hosted the conference during its first three editions between 2017 and 2022, and together with FORK will organize the next editions, the first of which will be held in Barcelona in November 2024 under the name “Experiencing food: Designing for phygital”.
