Next March 17th "Cadires a La Rambla" will come back again, a day in which we will take La Rambla in Barcelona to exhibit chairs designed by our first-year students from the Undergraduate Degree in Design.
In its 28th edition, 170 wooden chairs will be distributed along La Rambla de Santa Mònica so that passers-by can touch, see and use them and, in this way, turn La Rambla into a space of meeting and dialogue and not just for passing through. These plywood chair designs have to follow very specific rules: the wood cannot be more than one-centimetre-thick, they cannot have any fixing material such as screws or nails, and they have to be light and foldable. A challenge that the students overcome every year in a very creative way and with very good results.
The chairs will be shared with the citizens of Barcelona and from around the world and, at the same time, they will be exhibited as an icon of design and furniture. They will be arranged in a variety of ways, from rows to contemplate street life, rest or take a breath, to groups to encourage conversations.
Come and see us on March 17th at La Rambla, in front of the Arts Santa Mònica. You can't miss it!
