Ànima Barcelona, run by two Elisava Alumni, the best industrial design studio in China


The International Fair in Industrial Design of Shenzhen, which takes place annually in China, has given its two main awards to the Ànima Barcelona Studio.

Run by Diego Quiroga, Elisava Alumni and professor of the Postgraduate in Product Concept of ELISAVA, and with Joanma Baqués, also alumni of the School, the company has been given the award for the best design for the neuronal monitoring helmet Starstim (photo), of the company Neuroelectrics. The product monitors brain signals and is very useful for diagnostics and the detection of several medical pathologies, sleep studies, autism, etc.

Diego Quiroga says: “The big prize is to know that products like this one makes someone smile, since it helps a disabled person or kid with some pathology somewhere in the world, and it also helps doctors to diagnose more easily”.

Ànima Barcelona has also been awarded with the most innovative product award for the design of the motorcycle VOLTA BCN, of the Catalan company VOLTA MOTOR COMPANY, manufactured and sold in Figueres (Girona). This electric motorcycle has innovative systems of communication via app, as well as free space use like the gasoline tank.

After rivaling with more than 250 international finalists and due to this double recognition, the jury, formed by the directors of ICSID (Design World Association) and IF (one of the main industrial design awards of the world) has distinguished Ànima Barcelona with BEST OF THE BEST DESIGN AWARD.

Created in 2002, Ànima Barcelona has currently with China as its main market, in which it will work for firms like Black & Decker, Bosch, Siemens, Electrolux or Makita, among others.
