What role does graphic design play today in a fast-paced, ever-changing world shaped by technologies such as artificial intelligence? Graphic designer and Elisava Alumni Marta Cerdà (Barcelona, 1980), poses this question —and many others— in her new book: Sobrevivir al diseño—Context, Memory and Time, published by Anagrama as part of its Nuevos Cuadernos series.

Surviving the design

With a both practical and reflective tone —and refreshingly lighthearted— Cerdà champions in these pages the artisanal side of creative work and the value of a slower pace, which is becoming increasingly rare. Written from her own professional experience, the book examines how design fundamentals are evolving in an era of widespread access to sophisticated tools for text and image creation.

A member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), Cerdà has built an impressive international career in graphic design, art direction, illustration, and typography. Her work has been recognized by institutions such as the Art Directors Club, the Type Directors Club, and Gràffica magazine. In 2022, she published Type to Image, a collection of her most notable projects.

With Sobrevivir al diseño, Marta Cerdà invites us to reflect on the present and future of design, not merely as an aesthetic practice, but as an essential part of collective life.
