Lagranja launches Open Design Editions: a new opportunity for emerging designers

Real design, real production, real exposure—that’s the promise behind Open Design Editions, a new five-month program launched by Barcelona-based Lagranja Design for emerging designers, artists, and creatives with strong product ideas ready to be developed and brought to life.

From September 2025 to January 2026, the program offers a hands-on opportunity to design and produce original pieces with the full support of Lagranja’s professional team and business network. This is not a residency or a run-of-the-mill incubator—it’s a production-focused initiative aimed at bringing unique, technically feasible projects to market in three main categories: lighting, small furniture, and decorative objects.

“Sharing our know-how is no longer optional—it’s a responsibility,” say Gabriele Schiavon and Gerard Sanmartí, creative directors and co-founders of Lagranja Design. With this in mind, the studio opens its doors and puts its contacts, resources, and expertise at the service of the selected participants. Every designer keeps full authorship and 100% of the rights and royalties to their creations.

A renowned jury, including Javier Mariscal, Antoni Arola, Ariadna Rousaud, and Max Enrich, will select up to 10 projects. Selected pieces will be exhibited during the official Barcelona Design Week 2025 and may also be integrated into real Lagranja projects if the designers choose so.

In addition, Open Design Editions will host a series of public talks featuring key voices from the design industry. These sessions will offer real-world insights into product creation, production, and strategy, while opening up space for meaningful conversations within the creative community.

Applications open from May 1 to June 15, 2025
