Graphic designer, educator, and Elisava alumnus Enric Jardí has curated the exhibition Los libros de Barcelona. Diseño y edición, now on view at MUSA Museo de las Artes in Guadalajara, Mexico. The exhibition explores the history and evolution of editorial design in Barcelona, highlighting the city’s role as an international benchmark in book culture, publishing, and graphic design.

Produced by the Museu del Disseny – DHub in the context of FIL Guadalajara, the exhibition charts decades of editorial innovation, positioning Barcelona as a key ecosystem where design, the cultural industries, and visual thinking converge. The project also aligns with Barcelona’s participation as Guest of Honor at the Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara 2025.

More than 400 pieces to understand Barcelona’s editorial design

The exhibition brings together over 400 items—including books, covers, typographic elements, and process materials—offering a comprehensive and well-documented overview of Barcelona’s editorial design. More than half of the works come from the Museu del Disseny’s Collection and from its Library and Archive, underscoring the institution’s graphic and editorial heritage and its historical and contemporary relevance.

Together, these pieces reveal how design has helped shape a strong, recognizable visual identity within the book sector, and how it has responded to social, cultural, and technological change over time.

Los libros de Barcelona. Diseño y edición will be on view through March 1, 2026, presenting a unique opportunity to explore Barcelona’s editorial legacy in an international setting and reaffirming design’s role as a cultural tool with global reach.
