Where were you born?
I was born in Bahía Blanca, a city in the south of Buenos Aires province, Argentina.
I was born in Bahía Blanca, a city in the south of Buenos Aires province, Argentina.
For the past seven years, I’ve been living in beloved Barcelona.
I studied the Master in Branding.
I founded my own studio 17 years ago, Fashion Design Thinking. It has evolved alongside my professional journey. Today, it’s a branding and communication studio for sustainable fashion brands, where we apply our exclusive methodology, Sewing Method. This methodology is part of the book Maldita Moda, recently published. Additionally, we mentor entrepreneurs and designers. I also teach at Elisava in the Master in Branding, at LCI Barcelona, and in our FDT studio. I’ve had a podcast for five years, Maldita Moda Club, as well as an international club with the same name. Once a month, we gather from different parts of the world to share and debate our concerns about sustainability and fashion.
Before studying fashion design, I studied architecture for five years and worked at an architecture studio for a year, managing projects and visiting construction sites. Something about this experience made me question the profession (even though I love architecture and project management), and I decided to switch careers to fashion design. I completed my studies and started my freelance journey.
One turning point that led me to create my own studio with its own rules was when, early in my career, I encountered a workers’ cooperative made up of people rescued from slavery in the fashion industry. This experience forever changed my relationship with fashion. Since that moment, my vision and mission have been to work toward sustainable and healthy fashion.
Since founding my studio in 2007, I’ve developed many different interdisciplinary projects: branding, design, marketing, innovation. My tasks include creating collections, sustainable fashion brands, consulting for designers and brands, creating my own fashion and bag brands, mentoring, training, writing two books, product development from idea to final product, opening two stores, and leading creative direction for campaigns for my own and others’ brands. I’ve also led marketing campaigns and managed complex projects, all based on sustainability.
Through years of experience at my studio and working with businesses, I developed the Sewing Method, a framework for managing sustainable fashion brands.
I’m fascinated by new challenges and innovation. I’ve adapted the studio’s services as the context and circumstances evolved. I believe this adaptability is a core trait of our design profession—design thinking is always attentive to change and ready to innovate.
Design is a discipline that transforms, thinks, modifies, adapts, innovates, understands, empathizes, and improves people’s lives and their relationship with the environment.
Creative women determined to change the world.
A turning point in my life. The best decision I’ve made, both professionally and personally. It opened my world to new perspectives.
Meeting people from different cultures, nationalities, and professions. Just stepping into Elisava fills you with new ideas, where critical thinking, design, and innovation intersect. Everywhere you look, you see groups of people sharing ideas in an atmosphere of respect and freedom. Elisava is 360º inspiration. There are always exhibitions on conceptual or interdisciplinary topics and people working on projects. Luckily, I still enjoy all of this now as a professor in the Master in Branding, alongside the director, Jordi Belil.
Don’t settle. If there’s something you don’t like, change it.
A more sustainable and just world for everyone.
