Three Elisava projects will be exhibited in ‘Interdependence – Designing relationships’, an international exhibition organised by the Scuola Politecnica di Design of Milan on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, where they will think about the role of design in today’s world.

This project is Elisava Research‘s second proposal for the Navire Avenir rescue ship, an international project with the aim of designing and building a rescue ship for the Mediterranean, promoted by Sébastien Thiéry.
A reflection on the coexistence between public and private space in big cities, that proposes the improvement of the interaction between both spheres and the appropriation of public space by citizens.
A project that emerged as an initiative led by Elisava Research in collaboration with the Genalguacil Foundation and Open School for Village Hosts that seeks to promote rural immersion and develop social initiatives that welcome people and the rural community.
In a world where everything is connected, what is the role of design? ‘Interdependence’ reflects on the web of relationships in which we are immersed and how every choice we make, even the act of not choosing, has consequences that may not be immediately obvious, but it is essential to understand them and take action with awareness. Recognition of interdependence encourages cooperation, collaboration and recognition of shared responsibilities.
The exhibition highlights the importance of considering the wider implications of our actions, as they often have ripple effects that extend beyond the immediate boundaries. It promotes a plurality of approaches from which one direction emerges: design, as a discipline interconnected with a variety of systems, acts as a catalyst and inherently has the potential and responsibility to foster and shape innovative, conscious and collaborative relationships.
