Schedule At 7:30pm

The masterclass “NATURE in SPACE: Perspectives on Biophilic Interior Design” by Dr. in Architectural Design Carmen García Sánchez will provide a deeper knowledge of what biophilic design is and what design strategies can be used to implement it, linking the important role of architectural design with ecology and answering to the question of how nature can come into our design work and provide us with physical and mental positive impact and impressions.

For one afternoon, students of the Postgraduate in Interior Space Design Private Perimeters will be briefly introduced to literature on the course’s theme and the principles of biophilic design, including different approaches to the understanding of nature and the presentation of exemplary nature-connecting architectural cases. The programme combines a collaborative learning group workshop, an immersion into nature, a lecture, and a discussion. Participants will articulate their understanding of the selected texts and the lecture while reflecting on the different questions that may arise.

The masterclass aims to engage attendees with this emerging and relevant topic critically. It will also enhance their understanding of the human-natural environment interactions and, most importantly, enable them to create their own nature-connecting designs. The activity contributes to the implementation of UN’s SDGs and is aligned with the New European Bauhaus values of beauty, sustainability, and togetherness.
