‘FURNISH XKIC’, project developed by Elisava Research, is one of the 50 finalists of the New European Bauhaus Awards 2024

The project FURNISH XKIC, developed by Elisava together with Carnet, the Institute for Advanced Arquitecture of Catalonia, and the city councils of Barcelona and Milan, promoted by EIT and carried out at Entença School and Antoni Busí School, is one of the 50 finalists of the New European Bauhaus Awards 2024.

Out of more than 530 proposals, 50 projects were chosen due to their affinity with New European Bauhaus values and principles, and their potential to promote beauty, sustainability and social inclusion.

About ‘FURNISH XKIC’

FURNISH has created safer and more dynamic spaces in front of schools in Barcelona, as part of ‘Protegim les escoles’ (Let’s protect Schools), a project set by the city council. Its objective was to promote the use of these areas and enhance community cohesion by introducing ecological urban elements developed through a collaborative co-creation process with kids and students from universities.

These prototypes were implemented at the Antoni Brusí School by using rammed earth with modular forms and at the Entença School with wood coming from Collserola Park. Also, the project has encouraged the development of similar initiatives, and has inspired children in the use of ecological materials and the value of public space as a common good.

Vote in the New European Bauhaus Awards

The New European Bauhaus initiative works as a creative and interdisciplinary platform that connects our vital spaces and experiences with the European Green Pact. The goal of these awards is to recognise concepts and existing projects thought by the youth, and that show how sustainable solutions can be inclusive and aesthetically attractive, enriching people’s everyday life with quality experiences.

You will be able to vote for the project until March 27 at 6 pm following the steps below:

  • Register on the website of the New European Bauhaus Awards 2024 in the section «Participate in the public vote».
  • Verify the registration in the confirmation email you will receive.
  • After verifying it, access the voting platform and select «FURNISH XKIC 2021» in the STRAND A – NEB Champions category.
    Lastly, choose an additional project of STRAND B to complete the voting process.
  • Winners will be announced on April 12 at the ceremony of the New European Bauhaus Awards in Brussels.
