The students of the Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces have worked on the project Communicating Vessels in collaboration with Fundació Sorigué, whose results will be exhibited from June 14 in Sala Agora of Elisava. The workshop is based on the work in situ in two fluvial spaces with very different characters, the river Segre and the river Besós, which share obvious features of “third nature”, that is, physical or abstract objects that transcend the traditional distinctions between nature and culture.

The proposal of the project is to study the relationship between these two fluvial spaces, one of extraction and the other of reception, using the concept of “communicating vessels” to understand the river of origin and propose an action for the river of destination.

During the workshop, the students explored practice-based answers to the following questions: How can we contribute to the redefinition of the Besós River as a third nature? What simple, everyday, ethical, design-based processes can we imagine and carry out to redefine the river from a landscape, ecological and social point of view?

The Communicating Vessels exhibition proposes an analysis of the sites from a geological-material point of view over time and in a speculative way, using the idea of the river as a figure, metaphor and leitmotif from an ecosophic approach.
