‘Heredosporium’, by Martina Orska

Heredosporium is the fruit of a deep exploration, intertwining self-understanding with a review of my family history, marked by trauma, and mental health awareness. ‘Where does my depression come from?’. This question has been a constant driver of redefinition. My first diagnosis of major depression at twenty-two resonated as parasitism, where depression acted as an invading parasite on mind and body. Personified by bacteria and fungi, every negative thought, pain or trauma fuelled its growth. I used my body as a metaphorical laboratory, intervening portraits with my own bacteria and fungi from the environment.

‘I Could See the Smallest Things’, by Eric Sandstrom

I Could See the Smallest Things is a visual meditation on the unexpected beauty inherent in everyday life. Through his photographs, Eric Sandstrom (1997, Canada) extends an invitation to viewers, encouraging them to immerse themselves in moments of tranquility amidst the cacophony of modern society. With each image, he unveils hidden moments of solitude within the mundane, prompting a renewed appreciation for the richness of the day-to-day. In a world characterised by haste and competition, Sandstrom’s work serves as a gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and rediscover the profound beauty that surrounds us in the simplest of moments.
